National nurses march on Washington DC
Why was there not ANY national news coverage of the National Nursing March?? It was held May 12, 2022 in Washington DC, which was during Nurses Week! There were at least 12,000 nurses from all over this country assembled. Many of our local nurses were in the march. Do nurses not matter? Do we not have a voice in this country? We used our own money, our own resources to go to Washington DC to be heard!! YOU did not feel it was news worthy??? We marched for our profession, our communities, our families, our patients and for you!! At some point everyone will come in contact with a nurse and need our help. We were basically advocating for the Bills S.1567, S.162, HR1195. The planning of the march was spread by word of mouth and ultimately by way of a Facebook group "National nurses march". The word about the march spread like wildfire. We are demanding change and legislation to protect all health care workers. We are demanding legislation that limits the nurse-to-patient ratios making it safer for nurses and our patients. We are demanding legislation that protects against wage caps for nurses and travel nurses. These huge corporations the CEO's are making millions and whose income rose $1.9 million during the 1st year of the pandemic. This all on the backs of doctors, nurses and sick patients. This is wrong on many different levels, including morally and ethically.
