How can we improve New Mail?

Old emails deleted

I've lost all emails from before 2006. I know that's a long time ago but I had a lot of memorable messages from before that date that I would be keen to read again. Is there any way to recover them? and is there any way to prevent further messages from being deleted?

    i lost all my old mails. many important messages from banks are there. how can i recover it i need very much

    OMG, Where and why are my old emails missing. This sucks almost as much as the new view. Thanks for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
