Passwords for apps need fixing NOW
I use my old macbook pro software to login to yahoo mail and it no longer works.
I tried the application specific passwords and they do not allow access either. NO
Server connection is made. Other email accounts from other vendors still work fine.
So now there is no way to update my inbox and send and receive email at all with Mac osx.
Come on Yahoo how come you make changes and never test them prior to putting them out to the masses?
Good Grief Charlie Brown - Snoopy can do better.... Yep Sure You Can
FIX THIS!
- NEXT TIME TEST THE CHANGE BEFORE LOADING ON THE SERVERS!!!

Yep when yahoo changed to app specific passwords from the simple config option to allow login from less secure apps they broke the receiving IMAP function. Funny though the SMTP connection to their server still connects ok. In the early stages from March to April 2020 app specific pwds worked... then now it broken totally. On 10.6.8 with osx mail 4.6 It remains broken. While POSTBOX on the same machine to the same Yahoo account works FINE! Then for further triage, I test yahoo app specific pwds with a 10.8.5 and osx mail 6.6 and it is also broken. But AGAIN POSTBOX app worked fine. Why doesn't Yahoo simply run their server as before the app specific password fiasco? They broke it on the key default apple osx app and I lost unified access to yahoo accounts through osx mail because of this half *** change. To make my point clearer the same 10.6.8 with osx mail 4.6 still connects fine to over 6 gmail accounts via their less secure app settings. YAHOO NEEDS TO FIX THEIR WHOLE APP SPECIFIC PASSWORD SETUP OR SIMPLY REVERT BACK TO THE LESS SECURE APPS OPTION - --- IF GMAIL CAN DO IT YAHOO CAN DO IT. ... YAHOO HIRE BETTER PEOPLE AND REINSTALL THE pre- app password server configs..... geez

I have the same problem as above. All was working fine. Lots of 3rd party app don't work now. They work fine with all the other Email apps. Time to go to some email provider.

Totally agree,
yahoo needs to get rid of these ****** systems they installed. If yahoo mail cannot be centrally managed with other email its basically absolete
