Allow me to Transfer files to Portable Hard Drive

I want to clean up my file folders from my yahoo account - but didn't want to lose the information..so I want to transfer to my portable hard drive - but cant...how come???

    I have way too many file folders to make it easy to find what I am looking for - but didn't want to permanently lose the information.
