ending my time with Yahoo...
I started using Yahoo in 1997, when it was a really fast and good site with excellent tools and resources. Shortly after "Malinda" became CEO, things started to change, and features no longer worked, or worked poorly. Gone now are Groups with calendars, group folders with shared documents... Yahoo Messenger with it's excellent video, audio and streaming music, gone. All features ahead of their time and instrumental in creating FB and Google are either entirely gone, or no longer functioning well, if at all.
But, I held on despite loosing documents in several of the Yahoo interface changes. I held on for the email that allowed connecting with other accounts, as well as for the superior search engine. Now, Yahoo in its dying days has become GREEDY. Gone are sharing of pop and imail. Worse, I did not know that was happening and I missed valuable communications because I was no longer connected using my mail client. You can't even connect Yahoo mail to a desktop client unless you pay for Yahoo emai! I got a paid Yahoo account to sort this out, and even then, the connection to Yahoo mail through the client was not guaranteed. So I cancelled my subscription... after all, why pay for something that does not even work.
Finally we are down to the last thing Yahoo had that was of any value, the search engine. Well, they've gone and FUBARed that too now with their new 'safe search' that produces numbers and symbols rather than anything useful. This hot mess is new, and not due to system changes on my end, and turning safe search off in settings does not work.
So I could try a lot of troubleshooting to fix this, but even if I do, given the Yahoo history these last 20 years, I am willing to bet that it would be just a matter of time before the next FUBAR and frustrations/disruptions and wasted time that brings about.
So don't look for me here Yahoo... just going to use Yahoo email as my spam account and not bother with it for anything else.
