I am suddenly having the same issue - I have (had?) a Yahoo Mail account sync'd (IMAP/SMTP) to my desktop mail app (Outlook) for months ad now it has suddenly stopped working. After following everything tip/trick I could find (basically delete everything and start from scratch), I am still getting the pesky "Sorry, that feature is not available at this time" error when I try to regenerate an app password for my desktop mail. Web mail works fine, for now....

I pay the annual fees for an upgraded account and yet I can't access it via my new phone or new laptop! this is completely ridicules and extremely poor. Like most people here, I've had my account for many, many years and this isn't the customer experience I expect or deserve!

@ Paul I'm having the same issue. Iphone seems to be working however noticed that not all my messages are being pushed through. I still have to sign-on to the browser to see some of them....may not be the case for you but just FYI.

I suggest Yahoo fix this issue instead of them suggesting I change my process.

I need to use emails and was hoping to continue to use yahoo inside outlook. however, i cannot use the password generator. I can therefore not integrate yahoo into my outlook account on my laptop. For some reason it seems to work on my iphone!

Yes, its ******. But Yahoo is a free service. So I guess I will have to chill and use a browser for a few weeks. Sigh

this is ridiculous. As others stated, I too called support and It was a total waste of time. The only work around is paying $5 per month to forward all my emails to Gmail or another provider. I refuse to do that. I have had this account since 1999 I believe and can't believe I am going to have to switch after all this time

I called them and was told, that this is part of an yahoo upgrade they are working on and that the app generator problem is a known issue. She suggested use a browser window to get messages (which I have done for the past weeks now already). They are unable to give an estimate timing by when they fix the issue. Well - I give them another couple of days: Eventually after decades its time to switch elsewhere and just keep yahoo as an archive. Seems like quite a bunch of us won't show up to their 25th birthday party ...

They don't care because they are trying to revive a dying business...the more they delay with this process, the more you'll have to traffic either their website or their app to access your emails (not to mention all the calls to customer support which now generates revenue for them).

Is there any sign of this problem being sorted as I cannot access my Yahoo emails on Outlook?

I just called the premium customer service and was told this is part of an app upgrade they are working to complete and this app generation error is a known issue. He suggested just using a browser window to get messages. I asked when it was expected to be finished, and he was unable to provide me with any estimate. I hung up on him.

Please guys, tell us how to generate app passwords, 25 years using Yahoo mail, upgraded to a better computer and now it's useless. Fix it. I even deleted my old passwords thinking that may be there was a limited number of app passwords ... I was so stupid... Lost any access, even from my old computer.

I have had a yahoo mail account for just about forever. Used it with Outlook. Bought a new laptop and now I cant set up outlook to use Yahoo email. I need to use my email. Can you just let ordinary passwords work until this "app" password thing is fixed!!!

AGAIN. FIX THE BLOODY THING. The only thing stopping me from migrating away from my old laptop is this BS. Either that or disable it temporarily until you work out what the issue is.
