Take Metro Bus line No. 4 or the 704 they both go downtown off Santa Monica Blvd. East and West 704 is express and 4 stops at every other stop. they both stop at the wilshire bus stop you have to go north to catch the 720 bus going south and south for the 720 north it goes all the way downtown all the way down wilshire the 720 is the express bus and the 20 stops at every other stop please review I believe this would be the correct way I could be wrong but I do take metro line quite a bit this would seem to me to best and the easiest route not the way you have them going up and out of the way throw west wood. I would feel I was going the wrong way because you are taking them throw westwood which is a nice area but you go straight up santa monica to wilshire then down wilshire to destination make sure you are able to reach destination by express bus if not you have to take the metro 20 for that stops at every other stop and probably closer to your destination you only gain a extra 5 to 10 min, when you take an express bus depending on traffic and at what hour you are in traffic
