Hate speech should be banned, true. But we are not allowed to say words like stupid, shoot, fire, ****, idiot and so many more. We get blocked for ridiculous comments with no profanity and cannot figure out why. We are adults here. Age wise, anyway. Hope this makes it past the censors.

Hate speech against vulnerable and marginalized peoples is ugly and harmful. Ugly comments proliferate in the readers' response section of Yahoo news articles. Anonymity and lax monitoring of comments to news articles contribute to a toxic environment for Yahoo news. The comments section does not contribute to the online community, and it is an outlet for debased hatred from the worst impulses of society.
