Unclosable Apple Ad
The fact that I cannot close that Apple ad is extremely annoying and has now officially pushed me away from Yahoo! permanently.

I've been loyal to Yahoo for over 20 years but am tired of being bombarded by all the advertising. Now I have to click on the Fast and Furious promo twice to make it go away?! Yahoo used to be a leader and now I'm getting increasingly frustrated by all the calendar and email glitches. Seriously considering switching.

I would recomend using an adblocker. Yahoo isn't producing content worth paying for, you pay for it by being exposed to these terribly placed ads.
Use an adblocker and the site becomes marginally bearable. -

I no longer use Yahoo because of it's ads now my homepage is Google. I only use Yahoo for mail now. I got so sick and tired of ads being placed everywhere. Their search results start with 4 ads then 8 valid links then ends with the same 4 ads as the top of the search page. I also got so sick of only 4 valid news stories between "sponsored" stories, which many time linked to adware-ridden sites like Answers.com. The last straw was motion news stories every few stories. Nothing like sucking up the bandwidth. It really makes you wonder what kind of company Yahoo is, where the would rather divert their customers to adware-ridden sites or suck up your bandwidth just for ad revenue instead of focusing on creating a great user experience. Really makes you wonder.....

I totally agree, way too much space is used by the adds. Adds that keep coming back after you close them, adds coming down from the top of the screen, adds coming in from the side of the screen, adds, adds, and more adds. Very annoying and yes I'll even make it a point to NOT buy or use the adds that are promoted.

Simple solution: download Adblock plus.

YOU TELL 'EM!
I'm so ****** off at that ad which I CANNOT close I could scream!
Apple must be paying a FORTUNE to Yahoo for that aggravation.
I hope APPLE'S money makes up for the loss of loyal Yahoo users! -

I have always enjoyed my Yahoo account. Normally, the fact that I could click and close the top banner ad was something I could deal with. However, this extra-large Apple advertisement really does take up too much precious space on the homepage.
With all due respect that websites need to earn from advertisements, a nice win-win idea would be to let Yahoo account holders have the ability to click and close all the large header ads if they wished to.
People feel better when they have a choice. Thank you, Yahoo, for taking this into consideration.

The ad wouldn't be so bad if you could click on an "X" to close it after viewing it. But it stays there and takes up valuable real estate on the screen. It is annoying.
