I have read a lot of frustration filled reviews and talked to a lot of frustrated users of Yahoo Mail. I work at several Nursing Homes where I teach Senior Citizens how to use the internet. Yahoo Mail Basic, (the previous before this 2019 change) used to be the easiest and most reliable for them to use. Now the newer Basic version has confused everyone and a 10 second "I Love You" message to a grandchild has become a 1 hour of frustration nightmare.
I have had to start re-training 472 residents on how to use this 2019 version. They are confused, frustrated and annoyed. Some of them have even regressed because they are too 'change challenged' to re-learn so they could contact their loved ones. I actually had to console seniors 33 literally crying seniors who couldn't access photos they were expecting from their grandchildren and other loved ones. I understand that change is necessary, but when you reach those senior years of age, routine is preferred.
The main complaints are...
1. The colors are too bright or there is too much color. (The previous thin color stripes kept the focus on the words without becoming overwhelming.)2. The words are too small and missing when the zoom is used. (Some of them are vision impaired. I had set their PCs to comfortable viewing levels that have now become distorted. Some of them don't understand the scroll bar concept along the bottom of the screen.)
3. The actions used to be simple and easy to find. The drop-down box made it simple to save mail to desired folders. Delete/Spam/next/previous and others were neatly displayed in 2 lines across the top of the page.
4. Now the arrows really confused them. The single arrow pointing left was thought to mean ‘Go back one page’. The double arrows in the center, was thought to mean ‘Go back to the beginning’ and the arrow pointing right was thought to mean ‘Move forward to next email’. Keep in mind we are talking about people who are 60 to 101 years old. SIMPLE is best for them.
5. Now that you have changed your format, 62 of my group have switched to Gmail which I do not approve of at all. But since they need to keep in contact with their families, some of their children and grandchildren switched them over as soon as Yahoo Mail changed their format. I am now training those people to use Gmail until they can switch back to an easy Yahoo Mail. But, others may switch as soon as the frustrated have chatted with the semi-satisfied.
I am a volunteer who donates my time to assist the elderly with simple internet functions and teach them how to avoid scams and spam. Gmail is not so easy to help me prevent this.
My suggestion is to allow all users to choose between the “Newest Version of Yahoo Mail’, ‘Yahoo Basic Email’ and ‘Yahoo Basic 2019’. Also add a no color background choice. I think this would solve the issues EVERYONE is having. Thank you for considering. -

I do not get why you force a change to the email that doesn't do anything additional or better and THE FONT IS STILL FUZZY!!!!! Obviously it doesn't work right.

What have you done??? This new format is terrible – you've removed several of the previous features, like the tabs that let you have several emails open at one time, and the ability to change font types/sizes etc. What is the point of changing things for the worse instead of the better?

I absolutely detest the changes. The text is too small and you have given me no way to adjust it. There is no way to adjust the color. Links are missing. Settings are gone. How can Yahoo be so clueless. I'll tell you how:
There is no relationship with their users. Yahoo does not value this very simple and standard practice. You'd think Yahoo would learn after the devastating failure of their company so that they had to sell it.
But Yahoo still hasn't a clue. The first thing Yahoo should do is have a 1-800 # so users can call and speak with a rep or technician on any problems they might be having. The second thing is for Yahoo to welcome feedback and value that feedback from users. And I don't mean being able to write something in this form I'm using now where I have no idea if anyone at Yahoo will read it. It seems from all the evidence that I see that Yahoo does not care enough, or is afraid at this point, of actually speaking to their users person to person. There has been years and years of pent up animosity towards Yahoo's dismissal of user's complaints and user's requests that there be some means of communication. RESTORE OUR YAHOO MAIL TO THE WAY IT WAS OR AT THE VERY MINIMUM GIVE US THE CLEAR AND ACCURATE WAY TO CHOOSE THE OLD YAHOO MAIL OPTION. -

I have a hard time seeing the font in the move category with this new change. It's like everything else is in your face, but when you want to file something, you have to really get up close and personal to see what you're doing. No bueno. And will someone please move the spam button away from the delete button. on more than one occasion I've spammed something when I was meaning to simply delete it and that's caused some upheaval. I'm not a fan of the new changes. Sorry.

This sucks. Mail lists do not work, there is no ability to BOLD anything and the general set up is deplorable.

Can't access internet Search when on emails, can't access Contacts for addresses, no Bold/Italics/Fonts/Size/Color/Stationary. CC/BCC always shown at header. You removed my Signature/NEEDED! If I click on Contacts for address to send email, I get "Do you want to leave this page?" Then my email gets deleted!!! Where are my Contacts? I can't access/add/delete them! Read our FEEDBACK!

When sending an email cannot choose the type of letters, or have bold types or underline or add images!! Also, even when edited, my contacts do not appear by default in the "To:"...and if I cannot remember the exact email and want to go to CONTACTS, then I HAVE TO LEAVE the page where I am writing and LOSE ALL THE INFORMATION...so I have to write down the email then back to the page where I was writing and start all over again, copying the email address from my handwriting...WHAT??!!! who is the clever person that did changes....I hate this new YAHOO!!!

Hi,
I would suggest the following :- Some useful things from previous version are missing :
. Basic writing tools (bold, underline, etc) have disappeared.
. Contacts suggestion has disappeared. We then have to save a draft, go to the contacts section, copy the contacts emails, come back to the draft, paste, etc.- For foreign languages Yahoo Mail is suggesting corrections only in English and sometimes automatically corrects the words, inducing too much hassle in writing emails in a foreign language. This tool should be removable (I could not find it in the settings section).
- I noticed that nowadays websites or apps settings section is lighter and lighter. this is for me an issue as I am always customizing my interfaces in order to make them as simple as possible.
- Another thing I noticed in many websites or apps : there are menus or shortcuts everywhere (top of the page, at the bottom, left, right, etc). I suggest to put them all in one place.
- Also, there are many different types of menus possible, creating confusion. I think only one type should be used.
- There are many other things to say (about the general lay-out, the number of clicks to perform an action, etc) but I would need more time.
Otherwise, this interface for improvements suggestion is rather small...
Best regards

The new Yahoo Mail Basic is pretty much useless for sending email in a desired format, including in basic formats such as bold, different text colors etc. Also, paragraph spaces are lost when email is received in the New Yahoo Mail Basic
