If there's something unusual about your sign in or recent activity, we'll ask you to go through another verification step after you've entered the correct password. This helps protect your account from unauthorized access. You may be prompted to get a verification code on your Yahoo app, recovery phone number, or recovery email address for any of the following reasons:
- Yahoo notices suspicious account activity.
- You're using an unfamiliar browser or device.
- You're traveling away from your usual location.
- You sign in while using a VPN or a proxy server.
- You've logged in with a private or incognito window.
- There are many attempts to sign in with incorrect passwords.
- The "First time signing in from this device" message appears.
- You've cleared your browser history or data cache including cookies.

Yahoo needs to either show me what activity is defined as unusual before I am made to verify my identity. Without proof of the activity this is just an invasion of my privacy.

Yahoo needs to define the "unusual" activity that you "found" that causes me to authenticate my identity. Without seeing the cause this is just a nuisance and an overreach on Yahoo's part.

Every time I log in to check my mail I get a message that suspicious activity has been detected and I have to get a code. If I log out and log back in after 15 minutes later Yahoo has detected suspicious activity and I have to get a code. If I log out again and log back in after 20 minutes later Yahoo has detected suspicious activity and I have to get a code. It didn't used to be this way and it is really annoying. I had to get at least ten codes yesterday and I have had to get at least three already today. I checked my account for activity and there has been none. This all started last week and I think there is a problem with your security program. It is possible that the "suspicious activity" it is detecting is actually me, checking my e mail. This is totally absurd and needs to be fixed.

I think that these claims of "suspicious activity", are intended to coerce me into signing up for your "paid" customer service option. Why do I have to continually jump through hoops just to sign in?

Email was free a few decades ago when I opened this account. I also protect my computer via a VPN program from Norton. Apparently that's a no no. I just had to go through a dozen CAPTCHAs and still enter a code from a text to open my email. We have 2 accounts, both old, but have slowly gone to others and do less and less here. I just switched my highly trafficked Ebay account elsewhere so there will be nothing to do here.
