Oh, interesting thought about feelings/PC as the reason. Darn. That reason means it might not be added back in any form. Sure was fun while it lasted. :(
I suspect that (a) it was barely used in most leagues, (b) required resources to maintain, not worth it considering (a), and (c) focus is on the mobile app and its chat. Maybe the mobile app is seen as a better money-making option, so it's being monetized accordingly. I don't know.
That said, I miss the smack talk, although our league now heavily uses the mobile app's chat. The smack talk is more appropriate for matchup based smack, though, which the mobile app does not replace at this time. It could, though, as adding matchup based chat there is possible.
Request: add matchup based smack talk back, or create a variant in the mobile app that the entire league can see and contribute to.
It might make sense to dumb down commissioner based leagues in favor of the more profitable daily leagues? Still working on this theory; might be something here.
We sure miss this feature.
Maybe Yahoo calculated that a small percentage of leagues used it, which unfortunately likely takes into account public leagues where I assume most don't. In private leagues, though, or leagues where everyone knows each other and are real-life friends, this feature is critical. This feature was a major part in the purpose where we stay in touch and have fun.
The single threaded smack talk is much different, less personal, and just isn't the same.
As an alternative (for now, and beyond), consider altering your team logo each week based on the matchup. There's always something, such as posting an image of an RBBC member that competes with your opponents starting RB, their injured star player, or similar, depending.
Great that this is coming back, this is a great feature.
This is missed.

Darn, another thread full of immature comments and name calling. To my fellow humans, please be civil. Please consider that there might be reasons for how it works today. For example, might such year-round functionality require too many resources that might interfere with other sports? It's possible. Might there be budgeting issues and scheduling that go well beyond developer teams working on fantasy sports? It's possible. Lots of factors, lots of reasons, lots of unknowns. But most importantly, please be respectful.
I suspect it took a ton of resources (database servers) that negatively affected other parts. So, understandable, as it's a free service. But fwiw, I also miss it :)
I miss this. Live "smack talk" (and talk in general) is the best. Ideally it'd also work in the smart phone app but that might be too difficult to develop (and too resource intensive).
