Using dark theme, background for the messages tab is much worse now. By highlighting both read and unread emails with the gray background it became much harder to distinguish which email needs user's attention and which they have already gone through.
The only difference and indication for unread is a tiny blue dot - while going through emails people skim through title and content - thus they focus on the completely other part of the screen. Current UX forces them to go back and forth on every single email - instead of just knowing intuitively which email is unread and just scroll down while focused on content column. (e.i. without first moving their eyes on the left for tiny blue dot)
