A good hard look proves those that are not in the property market spend more money on the latest "fad" than saving to buy. Apart from that, the ones trying to get in, and whinging they can't, want to buy their "forever home" now as opposed to buying something and growing their home. CGT discount and Negative Gearing are NOT your boogeyman.
The government monkeys complain rent is going up and then complain about buying property that costs more than it earns. Narrow and Myopic thinking is what that is called.
As time goes on, Negative Geared property becomes more valuable and the rent rises accordingly. Narrow and Myopic thinking causes problems. Rents will explode without Negative Gearing. Keating tried it and had to bring it back to try and control the market as a result.
