My contention is that Yahoo comments has become an outlet for Russian Trolls. IN FACT, I had a 3 hour phone conversation with a Yahoo specialist located in Rumania the night before they pulled the comments section. He agreed that it would be best for freedom and democracy to NOT have a comments section, rather than to let Putin control it.
And the next morning, the comments section was gone.
I offered to "moderate" but it was explained that "moderators" HAD to be Yahoo employees, since they would need access to users' account information.
But he (as a citizen of Rumania) was NOT a Putin "fan" like Trump is... and agreed that Putin SHOULD NOT influence foreign elections.
And the next morning - the comments section was closed/gone.
I think that they should bring it back - but be more proactive in protecting it from organized hackers/trolls.
BTW - I've outed 1,000s of Russian Troll accounts since the 2016 election cycle... and instructed others how to identify them.
