I'm a member of the American Humanist Association. I'm surprised about the association's strong position on atheism. I identify as a secular mystic, holding four expressions of mystery identified by Joseph Campbell: Self, Others, Nature, and the Cosmos (God). As a secular mystic, I have no association with an organized religion. I recommend softening the divisiveness around religion by affiliating with a Christian group, such as Richard Rohr's Center for Contemplation and Action, whose values are strongly aligned with AHA. It's time for humanists to end divisiveness.
