The new homepage stinks.
First you change the homepage on my phone. Now you change it on my computer. Stop trying to be avant-garde. You're just hurting your company. I implore you to change the homepage back. I always used Yahoo as my search engine. If I had free time, I would just sit and mindlessly browse the news. Now I can't do that. I guess, for now, I'm switching to Google. At least they care enough about their consumers to keep the same homepage. Also, if you'll notice, I've already changed my email provider to gmail. I hope you're prepared to lost a lot of money.

I spend significantly less time on Yahoo! with this home page change. I liked scrolling through the news and reading full articles without being transferred all over the place, being forced to click to read the entire content and so forth. If I click on a headline, I'd like to read the content. All of it. The headline and the first couple teaser lines have interested me enough to make the choice to click. Having a silly overlay with a couple more sentences and a demand to click again and be farmed out somewhere is tedious and a waste of my time.
The carousel of stories at the top was something I clicked through every day. The loss of this feature diminishes the usefulness and enjoyment of this site as a whole. You've elected to take up even more page real estate with something that is markedly less useful.
And even though most of the comments are generally outrageous, they can still be generally informative and entertaining to read. Flinging me off to other sites and not having the Yahoo commenting is also unfortunate.
I already get my real news feed from Google. I see a headline and I can click on a simple icon to have it expand to show me other stories on the same subject so I can choose which outlet I'd like to visit. I have not considered Yahoo a real news source for a very long time. The stories are mostly fluff, but I'm ok with that. My brain needs some mindless drivel now and then.
I switched to Google's mail product for my primary personal account years ago when the Yahoo mail interface got increasingly cumbersome. I don't visit My Yahoo anymore because half the time my stories would't update and then the interface changed.
Making your home page more cumbersome, requiring more clicks to actually read anything, and removing any real reason to just sit and browse is a major deterrent.
There is definitely a balance to find when appealing visually to whatever is perceived as "modern" and actually functioning as a functional dense aggregator. I think Yahoo has erred too much on the side of modernity in this update. Using trickery to get readers to follow sponsored ad links is also unfortunate.

It has turned to **** - can't browse news without it dancing around and going to a whole different website. Even while checking email - it jumps to whole new page and can't figure out how to fix it. What is going on!

I understand that a new Homepage may seem important in trying to appeal to new audiences. But it's not. People are loyal to your company because they like the OLD Homepage. People are loyal to Google because they like how Google is managed. People will only switch search engines if the company they are loyal to turns the old system on its head. Congrats Yahoo, you managed to isolate loyal users. And I highly doubt that you will get new ones to take your place.

I agree. Yahoo needs to clean itself up. New does not always mean better.
