Yahoo Im disappointed and not surprised by the removal of comments. I get the fact yahoo is being basically extorted into removing the comment section and the liability involved
However, I also get the fact the real issue here is based on Yahoo's revenue and your advertisers leaving (extortion part), and nothing else.
And what's terrifying about this move, is we are seeing more and more corporations giving into socialist and facist ideologies and from that, the systematic shutdown of free speech and suppression of other opinions. That's the very fabric of America, our origins and what makes America great.
Yahoo comments were the only way people who believe in American values and free speech could express their opinions and to let the people decide what is good for them to read or not. Not yahoo.
It's unacceptable for Yahoo to do this and comments were the only reason I went to Yahoo in the first place, because Google has long been indoctrinated and corrupt.

John, just saying he is stupid is kinda stupid. Unless you are willing to take the time to explain his error it means nothing and just incites emotional bias which has no basis in information. It's tricky and time consuming to try to go into the error but one is the association of socialist with fascist. I would say socialist ways are more close to democracy because they are for serving the people rather than government power which is in the hands of the rich and powerful and the corporations more than by the people and laws that we are told are being made for the social good are actually for the good of the corporations and for the primary purpose of profit whereas anywhere there is power getting focused without democracy and the will of the majority and public involved is where fascism comes in and power gets concentrated in the hands of the few and the rich. The Nazis called themselves socialist but social good was not their main concern. Fascism is more about concentrated power than democratic power for the social good. Any system is fine if it is really for the good of the people. The right wing is about focusing power to those that have power. To the haves away from the have nots. It's about maintaining economic power advantage. It takes social programs for the good of the people to keep the playing field of opportunity more even. The good of the people and society doesn't just happen. Those that gain power have to be held answerable and forced to share for the good of society. The rich and powerful convince you through media that what's good for them is good for you as if what's good for profit sake is good for the planet and society. Profit motive is destructive in so many ways and creates inequality. We need a strong government to control the greed of capitalism. What happened to the idea of equality? To Sharing? But I do see removing comments as anti democratic and bias should be on full display and along the way information sharing will occur so that more than one side of an issue is present. The Fairness Doctrine was a good thing. The right wing GOP eliminated it. Both or multiple sides need to be available. Bring back the comments even though most are born of ignorance and bias.
