Conway is calling it like it is, the collapse of the GOP has been coming before Trump
and maybe started to become apparent with Reagan. I really noticed it
when Obama was elected and McConnell made it blatantly clear he would stand in Obama's every single agenda and he did. The gerry mandering got a full head of steam to block voters rights and after the 2018 election and the Senate was fully Republican charged, McConnell refused to do anything that came over from the HOUSE.
Our government was sitting with a GOP Senate and a president that
was a maniac that his lies became the fodder of a count and daily fact checking. Our government in any other way to say it - stood still. Trump was given a free hand in running the White House through nothing but Executive Orders and no meaningful oversight. Yes, the GOP collapsed completely by then. In a way the Pandemic was the last straw and the election built the momentum. Right now it is the frayed ends that are running on the insanity.
