"Nurses fired for not getting COVID-19 vaccine explain their rationale"
This story by Marquise Francis is a bit slanted. I understand no matter how objective we attempt to be we still possess bias. I am okay with this notion. I will say that the statement by Dr. Leana Wen is incorrect. I am 21-year-veteran RN, working for a substantial healthcare system organization. While we are "required" to have received a slew of vaccinations, we are afforded legal vaccination waivers and cannot be compelled to receive any vaccine. This goes for Hepatitis B and influenza as well. Dr. Wen's claim that healthcare workers are already mandated to take vaccines is at best inaccurate, and at worst a bald face lie. The structure of this news posting, this piece, is interesting as well. Flanking the Nurse's statements by Dr. Wen, and giving Dr. Wen the last word is notable. This is a human rights issue at it's core. My body my choice, correct? Or does that only apply to aborting a fetus? Think carefully before answering. Playing with this basic concept.... you dispense with it at your peril, and ours. Also question: why has Yahoo removed comment ability with posted stories? And refrain from regurgitating your standardized statements citing safety concerns and the like, already visible on your site; I can read. I can also think critically. Removal of commentary is synonymous with the removal of transparency and accountability. What are you afraid of? When you silence or rip out a tongue, you do not declare "liar!" to all. You instead declare to all that you fear what will be uttered. I wonder if this statement will be published.....?
