Genuinely free content - It's Geek To Me
Greetings! I write the weekly Computers and Technology Q&A feature It's Geek To Me. I see issue #808 somehow made it to your site this week, and I think that's great. It appears the copy you're using was pulled from the Northwest Florida Daily News, and was so-attributed. I'll be honest and say, while they publish it, they do not own any of the rights to it (despite their broad copyright claim over their paper's contents).
Things are in a state of turmoil at the Daily News, as they undergo a major management change. They rather insensitively left me without even a point-of-contact to which I could send last week's edition. The only reason I was able to track someone down who would actually talk to me was because a) I'm "The Geek" and b) I'm awfully tenacious when I want to be.
So, I'm guessing that the appearance of my feature on one of Yahoo!'s pages means that you found something appealing in the column? I'd like to make its appearance with you a little more formal. That is, I'd like to put you on the weekly distribution list for the column and have all attribution for the work, rather than one newspaper. Yes, the column is genuinely, 100% free - no strings attached. I invite you to go check out the column archives over on my website at ItsGeekToMe.co (not .com!) and check out the body of work, and how it's matured over the 15 years it has been publishing.
I very much look forward to hearing from you. You can reach me via e-mail at ItsGeek2Me@gmail.com.
Thanks!
-Jeff ("The Geek") Werner
