I would love to see Yahoo bring back a modern version of Yahoo Messenger, especially its public, interest-based chat rooms.

Yahoo Messenger offered something that many of today’s social media and messaging platforms do not: a simple way to enter a room based on a topic, interest, language, or location and naturally meet and talk with new people from around the world.

A modern version could combine that original experience with today’s standards for privacy, security, moderation, voice/video communication, and mobile access.

I believe there may be significant interest among former Yahoo Messenger users, while a redesigned version could also introduce a new generation to this kind of online community.

I would also encourage Yahoo to survey its users to measure interest in bringing back Yahoo Messenger and Chat Rooms.
