    Agree, Its useless. The spam mail folder is normally hidden and when you expand the folder list to make it visible, it no longer displays the number of unread items, yet te Inbox still does. I found that quite handy - I could easily see how much spam I was being bombarded with per day. Now I don't even know if I'm getting ANY spam unless I open the folder.
