97 spam emails on a Sunday!!!!!!!!
Better effort on the part of Yahoo is needed to detect spam before letting it get through to users.

The current spam detection system needs to be re-worked. Whatever changes went live March 1st, 2023 has drastically impacted the spam system, resulting in many legitimate emails being silently moved to spam, while letting previously marked as spam messages to start appearing in the inbox.
1. The reputation system can't be blindly applied globally. Just because another Yahoo mail user has marked a message sender as spam (thereby causing the sender's address reputation to be lowered which triggers the spam marking) doesn't mean the message sender is spam for all other users. It's a starting point, but individual users must be able to override, per the next item:
2. If any of the following is true, then a message should NEVER be placed into the spam folder:
a. the from address of an incoming email matches any email address contact in my address book
b. the from address matches the from address from a previously marked as spam message that has been manually marked as "Not Spam" (i.e., if I've ever marked an email as Not Spam, then any future email from that email address should never be marked as spam).
c. the from address matches any address that I have initiated an email conversation with (i.e., if I sent an initial email out to an email address, that person's reply should never be marked as spam.)3. On the flip side, If I mark a message as spam, then I all future emails from that email address should go to my Spam folder.
4. The Spam folder has no indication of unread message counts (so you can't tell when there are new messages that got marked as spam)
5. The only folder you can't search is the Spam folder. The only way to find legitimate emails in the Spam folder is to manually scroll through all the Spam messages and hope you don't accidentally miss a real message amongst all the spam. (You can search the Trash folder but not the Spam?) Users must be able to use the search box on the Spam folder, so that we can find the real emails among the spam ones.
6. User defined message filters fun AFTER the system Spam filters do. So, if I create an email filter to move messages from an email address to another box, that rule will never run because the system Spam filter will move the email into Spam before my filter can see it. This wouldn't be a problem if we could create a filter that runs on the spam folder (i.e., if a message in spam matches a specific email address, then move the message back to the Inbox).
7. Allow email address domain whitelisting. We can manually block a domain, but we can't manually allow one? If we had this feature then this would be option 2d above (the from address domain matches any whitelisted domain, then that message should never be marked as spam)

I have blocked a gmail account in yahoo mail as well as on my iphone. When I add MY yahoo and gmail accounts to my iphone, the gmail that is blocked in yahoo disappears from my iphone blocked list. It does not happen immediately, but within a couple of hours. I have added it back 3 times today and and it has disappeared each time. I am not sure which side the issue is stemming from so I am reaching out to all three platforms. Thank you.

A couple of months ago, I started getting tons of spam mail for no reason. Then, it went back to normal where I only get a maximum of like 20 a day. Sometimes, an email that should go in my inbox ends up in the spam box and vice versa. It ended up going back to where I got tons of spam everyday. As of a few days ago, I'm not getting ANY spam mail. Normally, this wouldn't bother me but I'm missing other emails and am wondering if they just aren't coming through because they were put in the spam box - WHICH ISN"T SHOWING!!!. What is going on with your service????
On top of this issue, since November, I haven't been able to receive some email newsletters that I signed up for. I contacted the companies and they told me that some email service providers won't let their newsletters through. They were supposed to be working on the issue. I'm wondering if Yahoo is one of the providers they are talking about? I want these newsletters! How dare Yahoo not let through something that was signed up for.
Please fix these issues!!!!! I'm sick of all the issues Yahoo has and may really look to getting another email provider if this continues.

Why are emails that call themselves Microsoft or some other company, but have an email that is 87879he89778@88biz.net allowed through the spam filter? It is obvious spam, but since it chooses a legitimate display name, it's allowed through no problem. Yahoo deserved to fail.

Yahoo mail spam filtering is a good feature! Allow user to create filters is a greater feature!
However, it appears that Yahoo apply its SPAM filtering BEFORE appling user filters. That means the user filters is less usefuly or sometimes completely useless. Because a lot of mails are ended in the Spam folder instead of the designated folders. This means users need to spend time to go through the Spam folder and manually move the mails to the proper folders.Therefore, it important for Yahoo to apply user mail filters BEFORE applying the Yahoo's Spam filtering.
Not sure it is easier or harder for Yahoo developer to do: allow the user to prioritize the order of filtering of Yahoo Spam filtering just like the user filters -

I am CONTINUALLY marking as "not spam" mailing list emails. Some of those emails were going to my Inbox for years without issue. -

the first thing to do is run a reputable anti virus program on your system to clear out any spyware.
The next is to change your password.
After that, check the settings for alternate or emergency email contact. -

Allen, auto trashing spam is a bad idea.
Yahoo's spam filter is so **** that it puts legitimate emails (some which have been going to my inbox for YEARS) into spam.
I am constantly marking legitimate emails (many are in my filters) as "not spam". -

Need to be able to delete junk emails without them going to the trash folder to have to be deleted again! Redundant, frustrating and a waste of time! And why do I have to pay to get answers to questions like this? Yahoo is Not customer satisfaction oriented
