Anyone who has lived in San Diego a long time knows the correct name of Sorrento Valley and it isn't Western Mira Mesa. Businesses and homes that are within the neighborhood of Sorrento Valley consider themselves in the neighborhood of Sorrento Valley. San Diegans (I'm sure most of them) feel the Neighborhood of Sorrento Valley is Sorrento Valley. What is your reasoning for calling it something other than what it is? The San Diego neighborhood map reads S.V. but the one that is shown on the district 6, council member webpage is that of the Mira Mesa Community Planning Map (which plans land) and it doesn't show Sorrento Valley because it's not a neighborhood map it's a planning map. The planning group and the city council's purpose is to advise and support Sorrento Valley and Mira Mesa and the neighborhoods within the planning group but is this happening? When I'm at work and I go out to lunch I see Mira Mesa banners all over Sorrento Valley. I don't think Sorrento Valley is getting fair representation. Many of us have noticed this and said why are these here? My co-workers and I wondered what's up? Sorrento Valley is the name the city gave it and people like it so why would any of us want to change it to Western Mira Mesa? Some people call the area Sorrento Mesa but it is still in the neighborhood of Sorrento Valley. We just don't get it. We like the name Sorrento Valley.
