This runs along the lines of previous suggestions to allow leagues to end on their own time frame.
However, in doing so, could there be an option to create a schedule format that balances the season?
Example:
I commish a 10-team league. We've discussed playing only 18 weeks of regular season ball, with each team playing an opponent twice during the regular season. This works for 12-team leagues in a 22 week regular season as well.
For an 8-team league, a 21-week season pits a team against an opponent three times.
When you get to 14-team and 16-team leagues, instituting divisional play achieves the result of a balanced schedule. Bonus points for allowing commissioners to set the divisions, too.
"Balanced Schedule" can be an option for commissioners when setting up their leagues.
