Fish or foul
The problem with your news site, and the reason fewer people are using Yahoo as a "home page," is that your site is neither fish nor foul. It doesn't know what it is. It contains some news, some sponsored content (often bizarre or salacious), some sports and some (usually weird) "human interest" stories. it is also not updated and organized to be a timely source of news.
Examples aplenty: Todays "news site" contains articles on current political events, abdominal crunches, the risks of eating avocados and a drowning bear. It also included for several hours an outdated story about President Obama's consideration of Nevada's Governor for a Supreme Court appointment as your first ("lead"??) story. The Governor had withdrawn his name from consideration hours earlier, as reported in a separate story buried far down the page.
This is hardly a place one can go to reliably check the NEWS.
