Establish Standards For Writers/REMOVE READ MORE BUTTON
Yahoo has been my homepage for over a decade, although I am considering changing to another website. There are two glaringly ridiculous problems that did not previously exist with yahoo, that are now consistently my most disappointing experience with the Internet. First, the writing abilities of the staff seem to have deteriorated to the point of an obvious indifference to spelling and grammar. "Spellcheck" does not correct grammar, but should at least alert the writer of mistakes, as it seems at least 75% of all articles or stories contain multiple errors. Seriously, sometimes I read articles that would earn a failing score at the 5th grade level... Worst of all, is the "READ MORE" button. If I click on a story, only to be provided the first few paragraphs followed by the "READ MORE" button, then I expect to actually "READ MORE". Instead, I am actually provided a VIDEO of some underwhelming ******* READING a story to me (usually only adding one or two elements that were not included in the first two paragraphs). If I wanted to watch a video, I would. I enjoy READING, and I am extremely annoyed by this completely misleading tactic to force-feed your loyal users more advertising (which will at best be ignored, yet usually results in product aversion). It seems that yahoo has abandoned all concern regarding your influence on young people, and are ****-bent on helping facilitate America's race towards "Idiocracy"... Despite what you may think, there are people who have the ability to actually read and prefer to ingest information through the written word. If you're going to blatantly MISLEAD your users in order to ensure that they see an ad-filled page, then please stop pretending to write articles at all, and only use videos. At least then, users know exactly what to expect... Oh, and one more thing: READ MORE
