Goodbye
I’ve come to say good bye. I have used Yahoo since about day one. Pre-Ecommerce, so no ads. Just a search engine. Over time I have abandoned various aspects of Yahoo. I now use Google to search. I use Gmail. My last use of Yahoo was News.
I like the fact that with the internet I read and follow only the news of my choosing. No longer dependent on the 6:00 o’clock news, or local paper to decide for me what is important. This is why I used Yahoo. I scan the article titles, and open the ones of interest in a new tab. I then go read the articles.
Now Yahoo is a part of what I call the fake website business. Those mass generated sites that are just ad generators. The need to click through to the actual source to read an article is just that. What amazes me is that there were people, who were paid well I’m assuming, that all agreed this was a good idea. To me it is a cheap and classless tactic to generate revenue.
So today I tried the CNN website and it is awesome. It is clean and crisp. The Yahoo home page has too much junk everywhere.
I’ll need to add more sites because I did like having a variety of sources, but it is a start.
So goodbye Yahoo. I guess I am no longer your target audience.
