Please, oh please... get rid of comments!
Comments only help to incite anger and inflame tempers.
People post a nasty comment, then leave. There's no rational discussion to be had because no one returns to their original comments to see the replies. (Not that I'd expect rational discussion even if they did see the replies.)
Yes, I could just ignore the comments.... and I really try to, but it's the millions of other users see all the other nasty comments as a reason to leave a nasty comment of their own.
Has anyone ever read a comment and thought: "Hmmm, you have a point... I might have to reconsider my stance on that issue"? I doubt it.
Please, I'm begging you... this is for the greater good!

I totally agree with you. I remember in the late 1990's Yahoo had comments after news stories and all it is is a place to increase people's anger and spew hatred. Yahoo by providing this arena for posting here is only making things worse.
