Cleanup News Comment Sections by Disabling Replies
The news comment sections would likely be more civil and helpful if replies were completely disabled. Other sites take this tack, and it seems to work reasonably well. Trolls and other disruptors generally do not have the capacity to create leading comments; many of them are unable to function outside of attack mode. Quality of the comment sections is declining precipitously owing to increasing contamination by individuals of this stripe.
