Suspected Coordinated Troll and Bot Activity in Yahoo News Comments
Hello Yahoo Team,
I am writing to raise concerns about the integrity of the Yahoo comments section across news and political articles.
I have a very strong impression, after reading the comments on the following article and many others, that a significant portion of the activity may be driven by coordinated, low-quality, or potentially inauthentic accounts:

Many comments appear repetitive, emotionally extreme, dismissive of factual reporting, and aligned in ways that suggest organized trolling or bot-like behavior rather than organic user discussion. This pattern significantly degrades meaningful discourse and undermines trust in the comments platform.
I understand the privacy and legal challenges involved in publicly displaying user location. However, I encourage Yahoo to consider alternative transparency and moderation tools that other platforms and researchers have found effective, such as:
Clear indicators for newly created accounts
Stronger bot-detection and rate-limiting mechanisms
Visibility into account authenticity signals (without exposing personal data)
Enhanced moderation for coordinated or spam-like political activity
These measures would help protect genuine users and improve the quality and credibility of discussion while respecting privacy and safety standards.
Thank you for your time and for considering improvements that support healthy, authentic engagement on Yahoo.
Sincerely,
A concerned Yahoo user
