Will have to do fantasy basketball with ESPN because of this and their fantasy app sucks. I don't get how Yahoo hasn't realized this...

This has been the only problem I've had in my league. All the managers want a limit per week to create a fair match up. I don't see why this has not been implemented yet. This would solve the only debate we have in my league. Please Yahoo get rollin' on this!

great idea! 40 starts per week sounds great

At first I was against this idea till I found out how it exactly works and how ESPN does it. This is a great idea!! No more shorting the roster due to try and make sure teams have the even amount of games. No more excuses about losing due to your opponent having 5 more games than you which automatically puts you at a disadvantage.
This should be done next season!

Great idea. Fantasy basketball matchups shouldn't just be about who plays more games in a given week. Love this idea. An alternative, rather than gp, would also be mins per position. That alleviates the problem of mid-game injuries too.

Seriously, @yahoo fantasy can get a little lopsided at times and this would fix it entirely

THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN! Please yahoo help us make fantasy basketball the best fantasy sport on the planet!

This would fix fantasy basketball, which is borderline broken at the moment with schedule disparities and random benchings. Fantasy playoffs come down to luck, if we can set our own thresholds we can fix it ourselves. This is an easy solution to several pervasive issues.

With the vast unpredictability and imbalance in the NBA season schedule, the number of players a certain fantasy team has playing throughout the week can have a very significant impact on the outcome of that week. I think a weekly start limit option needs to be seriously considered. Similar to the weekly start limit for starting pitchers in fantasy baseball. If you set the limit at, let's say, 40 or 42 starts per week, this guarantees that each team will have the same number of players playing for the week, and benching one of their worst players once or twice in a week shouldn't bother anyone. It is an easy fix for an important problem. And adding it as just an option for commissioners to enable or not, doesn't force it on leagues unwilling to add this feature.

I have been writing Yahoo about this for at least 5 years! Maybe not a maximum but a set number like 18 games per week so that people do not skip games to limit TOs or jeopardize % stats.
This makes weekly head to head match-ups more fair (same amount of games for both teams). Daily line-up changes help with injuries so if a player gets injured on Monday, you can sub another player in (just like any other sport). Daily line-up changes also allows for mid-week adjustments based on your opponents substitutions. This is by far the best change to Yahoo Fantasy Basketball.

I want this option implemented. To go a step further, it would be nice to be able to set the maximum number of games played by roster position per week. So each position (PG, SG, UTIL, etc) has 3-4 maximum games played per week. By implementing this change, daily roster changes become more strategic, and week-to-week play seems more fair.

Yes. This is just a glaring, long standing error on Yahoo's part. We have had our league for 13 years with Yahoo, but I think we are going to change it soon to ESPN because they clearly don't care to make the fix

just give each position maximum of 3 spots a week...you can play your lebron 5 times but somebody else will sit.just like in roto each position has a max 82. this will even out the matchup where the skill matter more then luck.

It would be great if you could set a max # of games per week in a head to head matchup. This would allow the lineups to stay as daily subs and no one can exceed a certain # of games. Other sites have this and it would be a great additions to Yahoo.
Thanks.

It's not fair in the long run if you play weekly head-to-head. Because only your weekly wins count.

It's all fair in the long run. If you want game limits, play roto

There needs to be a game limit in weekly head to head matchups. It's the only way to have a fair matchup. One way to do this would be to allow the commish tto pick what the weekly game limit is per player. And then users can decide which games his/her player will play that week. For example, if the game limit is 3 games per week. The user gets to decide which 3 games out of the 4 for that week, his/her player will play in!
