Rosters - Roster limits for positions
This feature would allow commissioners to set the maximum and minimum number of players a team can roster at each position at a given time. For example, teams can have a maximum of 3 Goalies on their roster. Currently there is no way to set the maximum or minimum number of players a team can roster at each position.

This issue alone makes me want to find a better fantasy option for my Dynasty pool. We have 6 bench spots and have to manually limit guys to 4 goalies to prevent hoarding. Should be so easy to just set a position cap.. you guys do it with other sports

This is very important to prevent teams from hoarding goalies (especially in larger-sized leagues) where it might be impossible for teams to meet the weekly goalie minimum.

In a big league like most (20 teams), goalie hoarding can be an issue, this would police that

I've been asking for this for years specifically for Goalies (Hockey), Starting Pitchers/Relief Pitchers (baseball) and QBs/Kickers (football)

allow bench spots to be designated for hitters and for pitchers (eg 3 hitter bench spot and 3 pitcher bench spots as opposed to six generic bench spots). this would prevent teams from hoarding up on pitchers to maximize two start pitchers.
this may be easier to do that picking a max start or max inning per week.

I think this is one of the most critical stats that Yahoo is missing in their fantasy hockey format. As a commissioner, right now, I try to make it where it is not beneficial for a team to constantly stack a certain player (ex. goalies) but it does not always deter them. For example, goalies are available in smaller numbers than other positions in hockey. Some tactical minds see that if they load up goalies on their roster, others are unable to fill/play the minimum number of games because there are no more goalies available and they steal a week. It can render an otherwise great team into losing. ESPN has these limits and while I think the yahoo fantasy platform in many ways exceeds the ESPN platform, it can be improved. By not having positional limits, it hurts the overall experience on Yahoo Fantasy. I look forward to this being added next season. Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback and I hope this finds you having a great day.

Can this be implemented asap. Posted 2 years ago and still not a feature

Goalies do not play 82 games. There should be a different option for games played for goalies.

I hope these are checked. Can you please make this happen?

Agreed with giving the option to commissioner/leagues to have a max number of goalies. In the past, we used 4 max in espn and that worked well but to each their own. Let people set up their preference.

Benching goalies to retain a lead in Save%, GAA seems antithetical to competing in a league. Particularly since you can only start 2 goalies per night, but you can bench 3 or more? How about no bench spots for goalies? The roster is setup as a quasi-realistic roster, but what realistic roster has no goalie?

A lot of good suggestions. Our categories for goaltenders are W's, GAA, SV%, SHO. Yahoo allows only 2 goalie starts per day, but managers can bench 3 Goalies.
If a manager gets 3 (our league minimum) starts with good stats, they'll bench goalies for the rest of the week. I understand this strategy in a H2H league but if I happen to have 1 bad goalie start in a week I have no chance of winning GAA and/or SV%. These same guys don't want to include a SVs category to counter the guys who bench after 3 starts.
How about you can't bench a goalie who is scheduled to start unless you have 2 other goalies starting?

Please make an option to limit goalie pick ups per week so that players could still make the 4-6 transactions per week but only able to pick up day 2 goalies over that period so you don’t end up with cheaters just cycling goalies every week to gain more points on teams that actually drafted well

I agree. I have this problem in my league. This guy has 4 goalies on his team already and we have two starting goalie spots. He has already picked up a 5th goalie just because he’s starting tonight. We are a 10 team league. Most teams will carry 2-3 goalies. This guy hoarding them is a big problem. How can we have quality goalies on our teams when he never drops any goalie to pick up a new one.
Last year he ended the season with 6 on his roster. It’s just ridiculous. -

A possible solution Yahoo could introduce would be that you could designate bench positions as Goalie/Defense/Forward. Then you could have, say, 2 goalie slots plus 2 goalie bench slots.

I disagree. A manager should be able to have whatever players he wants. If he has 5 goalies, then he only has one extra position player. The lack of offensive players will hurt him sooner or later since there are 6 offensive points and only 4 goaltender points.

I have a very similar issue. My starting roster has 12 forwards and 6 defensemen with no bench. However, managers have the ability to roll with less than 6 defensemen, utilizing those open roster spots with additional forwards despite the fact that there is no bench. So teams would have 13 forwards and 5 defensemen or 14 forwards and 4 defensemen. I don't want them to be able to do this and when I police it manually managers give me lip.
