Assistant GM- overhaul
The Optimize Lineup feature needs a serious overhaul — especially when it comes to goalie decisions.
There should be very basic logic in place here. If one goalie is confirmed to start and another is unconfirmed, the feature should never replace the confirmed starter. If both are confirmed, then sure — optimize based on matchup.
I just had a situation where I rostered two goalies from the same team and one was already confirmed as the starter. Right before puck drop I picked up a skater and quickly hit Optimize Lineup, assuming it would simply adjust my skaters.
Instead, it swapped out my confirmed starting goalie for the unconfirmed goalie — who didn’t even start the game.
That single move ended up costing me the week and ultimately knocked me out of the playoffs.
This is incredibly frustrating considering this is a paid feature that’s supposed to help managers gain an edge. In this case, I essentially paid for a tool that directly contributed to me losing.
There needs to be smarter safeguards built into lineup optimization, especially around confirmed goalie starts and last-minute moves. At minimum, there should be protection that prevents a confirmed starter from being benched for an unconfirmed goalie, or at least a warning before the change is applied.
Right now the feature feels unreliable in high-leverage moments — which is exactly when managers are most likely to use it.
