… Krisnel’s two graphs in simulation, 2009 great flooding and 2026 destructive earthquake both with concentration in Metro Manila, appearing to have similar pattern of disaster as she claimed it remains a mystery to me. Since it was prior to 2009, Krisnel intended to know first if there would be 2009 great flooding before she would give me the details of these two graphs. I insisted her to share some of its information to me when we were in the library. We were in a row of seats facing the wall with most of these seats being occupied that she wanted me not to have loud voice at that period of others either studying or napping. After I offered to her my willingness to fulfill a condition in exchange of these graphs, she requested something that I already heard from her: shifting to a Natural Science degree program. Some of our fellow ID 105 “blockmates” of first year batch already told me that I was considering to shift from College of Liberal Arts to College of Science according to Krisnel, which would always make her giggle while I was becoming “gigil” (in Filipino) knowing that I told her my intent to be enrolled in the College of Science only if I would be pursuing my “rejected” competitive basketball endeavor – because I would opt to take fewer academic units in Natural Science per school term than in Liberal Arts – as I failed to have an opportunity to be a player of the national youth team in basketball after people rejected me to play against them for tryout. Krisnel was claiming to me that she knew my stats in Milo basketball clinic for 9-11 years old – but never told me a detail of it – that led her convincing me to still pursue playing competitive basketball. Her “excuse” FOR NOT SHARING ME – the person, my being – in the details of the graphs was that I lacked the preparation for reading the graph, unlike Prof. Perez of Math Department and Prof. Moreno of Physics Department she claimed to have seen these graphs. For her argument, she was telling me the possibility of bias in her attempt to show a pattern of disaster by manipulating factors to satisfy our intuition. Then she related it to basketball, possibly that I was well prepared for the tryout and others rejected me for their lack of preparation. As an example, I would have to assume that one of us was born in 1984. I was born in 1987. All other factors being the same, the only factor that changed was the year. The facts of the graphs did not change, but the appreciation of these may change with time. As our Behavioral Sciences program having 3 years minimum to complete it, we would likely not have seen each other that 2009 & 2026 data can exist but her focus may not be limited to these two years because it was me who argued for these two separate years. Hence, her appreciation of a data set may vary. With that emphasis on time, the appreciation of anything – including basketball – for her may be result-oriented or outcome-based depending on the period of preparation such that facts are constants and our views are variables. My capacity to play competitive basketball, for her case in point, may be viewed inaccurately because of variables such as the perception of ageing yet it is skills set and not age factor that is measured for what is significant, clinical, and critical. Similarly in view of either Holy Day or secular holiday, she believed that ‘Christmas’ or ‘Pasko’ (in Filipino) is celebrated by Christians but one of them may be doing the will of God while the other was simply saying that Salvation has come, possibly in relation to the two graphs that the former acted on disasters while the latter simply stated that her graphs were accurate as preparation of these two individuals varies….
