Improve the design of the left side bar!
Why would you have the settings hidden and force the user to click the elipses to get to it when you have the entire left margin mostly empty?
Why not show all the folders there and only fold when there is no space?
This is user interface design 101.

Multiple line message previews
Multiple line message previews would be really helpful. The clean compact Inbox look is a nice upgrade, but I wish I could see two lines in the preview and I don't mind scrolling a little more.

spam folder button on main menu
Please put the spam button back on the top-level menu along the left side of the page, like it used to be, rather than buried in a submenu. A fair number of perfectly valid messages wind up in the spam folder. I always check it along with the inbox to avoid missing them, and the new layout adds an extra and un-necessary step to get into the spam folder.

Preview box when I open an e-mail is unnecessary.
Please do away with the preview box at the top when I open an e-mail. All you're doing is making me have to scroll farther down to see my actual e-mail. Completely unnecessary.

Show more than just Compose, Inbox, Starred, Sent, Drafts, and Folders
Im on Desktop and the left side has Compose, Inbox, Starred, Sent, Drafts, Folders and "..." to open up a menu with Unread, Archive, Spam, and Trash
But... why? The six visible options only take up half the vertical length of the screen. The four options that are hidden behind a menu can EASILY EASILY EASILY fit in the remaining space. The "..." menu isn't even needed
Please fix.

Resurrect top right drop down that was in classic for sorting the mailbox
This was one of the best features of Yahoo mail and not found on GMail etc. Please restore this option under the categories as well as it allows for quick sorting and handling emails - especially promotional and newsletter categories.
