Inbox spacing
Basic mail has 3 choices for inbox spacing. Small lets you see many more emails in a browser window. This new mail shows too few, with no option to change (that I can find, anyway).

Small UI oddities and tweaks
- Each popover should have an arrow pointing to the button that opened it. This is particularly helpful for the folder context menus.
- The "more on Yahoo" popover could use some icons.
- In the light theme, the search placeholder text becomes more contrastive when the search bar is focused. This is kind of backwards. Also ensure the two themes are consistent with each other here.
The rest of these concern issues with the dark theme specifically:
4. This might be the most important: The automatic dark theme application to emails needs a lot of work, even just in simple ways. Pure… -

envelope icon for read messages
Hello,
I wanted to share a suggestion to help improve clarity in your email interface. Currently, when an email is marked as read, the envelope icon remains closed, which is confusing, traditionally, a closed envelope indicates an unread message. It would be more intuitive if the envelope appeared open once the message has been read.
Right now, the only indication that a message has been read is the greyed-out text, but the closed envelope icon suggests otherwise. Updating the icon to an open envelope for read messages would make the status much clearer at a glance.
Thank you for considering…

Nothing new or improved about it
I really wish the new look wouldn't have been forced on me. It is much worse, too visually busy and interrupts my workflow. It is a serious and disappointing downgrade.

Cluttered screen
Get rid of the little circles with initials which appear right next to the sender's name. They are of no use--the name is right there! Just clutter on my screen.

Update Yahoo Mail Settings
both the mobile & desktop settings are very outdated and should be updated. its like i am going from 2025 right back to 2015 when i go on settings. to start, add icons on the left side of the name, exactly like for example, the settings button with the gear icon next to it. this would be huge for me and make me want to stay on yahoo mail

Reduce white space / padding
There is too much space / padding between the UI elements in New Yahoo Mail.
Even on a full-HD screen there is too little space to view the actual email (without having to open it in seperate view every time).
You should consider providing a switch between "comfortable" and "compact" theme, to maximize screen realestate.

Inbox view suggestions
- Need to be able to turn off the right pane
I don't need to see calendar or contacts from my inbox
Left pane needs to be collapsable with one click
Email messages list, need a compact view where the messages are not spaced out (similar to old yahoo mail view).
I typed a whole comprehensive suggestion previously, and then when i clicked on POST IDEA, it gave me a 404 Userview page cannot be found error, even though I was already signed in? This is my last attempt.

Visually Challenged Users Need Higher Contrast For Reading (at least I do)
Please consider making a theme or a setting for the visually impaired. I need a darker, higher contrasting color for me to read easily. I am 76, I am still trying to run my own business. My emails are extemely difficult to read. The light gray letters on the off-white background provides very weak contrast. And the webpages could be better for us visually challenged users.

dark mode
Dark mode is in need of some DRASTIC improvement. I've never seen dark mode on a webpage that was so monotone! Seeing the read vs. unread mail is hard to distinguish, the search box is the same color as the overall mail background page, the entirety of the font being just stark white on either deep black or deep grey. I get migraines from bright white webpages so I need to use dark mode, but I hate Yahoo Mail's dark mode with a passion and am thinking of just switching over to a different service!

Email list view is hard to read in the current version vs classic / basic
In the classic email version, it was much easier to read / see the list of emails. The current version that I'm now being forced to use is much harder to read. The flat view in Classic was much better than the bold & highlighted features in the current version. Having some functionality to change the list "view" would be great. Thanks

Dark Mode
New Dark mode is too hard to tell the unread mail from the read mail. Light mode is good.

Contact List to full screen & a raw data clipboard
Software ought to make user tasks more efficient. Attempting to locate contacts, then create a new contact is all but impossible ... there ought to be a means to expand contacts to half or full screen for ease of use ... if you want to do more allow a cut / paste raw data clipboard to drop all that I need to include in the contacts that I can't because the new contact listing process stinks.

inbox size
The new interface is deficient in a number of ways. It's poorly designed. The size of the inbox window was made unnecessarily smaller than the available screen space for the purpose of pure esthetic appeal. The color shades for dark mode are ill-chosen making it difficult to view the page in a relaxed manner. Last but not least, the highlighting scheme for read and unread messages is counterintuitive, and opposite of standard convention. All in all, a series of flagrant disregards for the principle of 'form follows function'. The previous version was far better that what your design team came…
