Having a Team Offense. 1/2 point for 1st downs, 1 point for 24 to 30 pts. made, 2 pts for 31 to 36 pts made, and 3 pts if more than 36 pts. made. You could also have a minus of 5 points in the event of a shutout.

Along with a Team Defense category, there is also a Team Offense category. Thinking of entering this in one of my leagues: 1/2 point per first down, 5 points for a win. Minus 5 points for a shutout. And, 1 pt. for 10 to 19 points made, 2 pts. for 20-29 pts., 3 pts for 30-39 pts., and so on.
Another idea is to come up with a completely different format whereby you draft an entire team for each position. In that way, if your QB gets injured, you automatically are filled in with his backup. You could draft all RBs of any team, WRs of any team, TEs, Ks, and, of course, team Defense. It would not matter if this were an 8-member league or a 12-member league. They may even draft the same category, due to so many options, no two teams would have the exact format going into that week. I had my own league one year, and I put this to the test; I did all the stats, and it worked out flawlessly. Mind you, it was a lot of work for me to do everything, and the following year I had to give it up as it was too time-consuming for one individual. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.
A whole new type of Fantasy Football League, called a Team Position League. I tried this myself with an eight-member league for one year, and it worked flawlessly. Instead of having one QB, WR, RB, TE, and so on from a team, you would draft the team's entire position. For instance, if you drafted Patrick Mahomes as your QB, you would also be drafting all those other QBs on the Kansas City roster. In that way, if Mahomes was injured, you would receive his backup's points as well.
Each member of my league drafted two teams' QBs, four teams' RBs, four teams' WRs, two teams' TEs, two teams' Ks, and two teams' defenses. I even used a team's Offense as a different category. Every week, each league member would enter two of each of the WR and RB team positions, along with one each of the QB, TE, K, Team Defense, and Team Offense. It didn't matter if more than one member drafted the same team position, in that with so many combinations used each week, in the 16-week format and Championship rounds, not once did any member have the same positions used.
