Scoring - Team Position Points
This scoring setting credits all points scored by a specific position on an NFL team to the manager who rosters them. Most commonly, team QBs are used in this scenario. For example, if Russell Wilson gets hurt, the team that started him would get the points from Geno Smith for the rest of the game. Currently we don't offer this setting.

If a quarterback in someone's starting lineup leaves the game then that person gets the points from that team's backup quarterback. Example: I started Jaden Daniels last week, he left the game & Marcus Mariota came in, with this rule I would've gotten Mariota's points.

A whole new type of Fantasy Football League, called a Team Position League. I tried this myself with an eight-member league for one year, and it worked flawlessly. Instead of having one QB, WR, RB, TE, and so on from a team, you would draft the team's entire position. For instance, if you drafted Patrick Mahomes as your QB, you would also be drafting all those other QBs on the Kansas City roster. In that way, if Mahomes was injured, you would receive his backup's points as well.
Each member of my league drafted two teams' QBs, four teams' RBs, four teams' WRs, two teams' TEs, two teams' Ks, and two teams' defenses. I even used a team's Offense as a different category. Every week, each league member would enter two of each of the WR and RB team positions, along with one each of the QB, TE, K, Team Defense, and Team Offense. It didn't matter if more than one member drafted the same team position, in that with so many combinations used each week, in the 16-week format and Championship rounds, not once did any member have the same positions used.

Having a Team Offense. 1/2 point for 1st downs, 1 point for 24 to 30 pts. made, 2 pts for 31 to 36 pts made, and 3 pts if more than 36 pts. made. You could also have a minus of 5 points in the event of a shutout.

Along with a Team Defense category, there is also a Team Offense category. Thinking of entering this in one of my leagues: 1/2 point per first down, 5 points for a win. Minus 5 points for a shutout. And, 1 pt. for 10 to 19 points made, 2 pts. for 20-29 pts., 3 pts for 30-39 pts., and so on.
Another idea is to come up with a completely different format whereby you draft an entire team for each position. In that way, if your QB gets injured, you automatically are filled in with his backup. You could draft all RBs of any team, WRs of any team, TEs, Ks, and, of course, team Defense. It would not matter if this were an 8-member league or a 12-member league. They may even draft the same category, due to so many options, no two teams would have the exact format going into that week. I had my own league one year, and I put this to the test; I did all the stats, and it worked out flawlessly. Mind you, it was a lot of work for me to do everything, and the following year I had to give it up as it was too time-consuming for one individual. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

Just wondering if yahoo will ever get the option for having team qb instead of having to pick he player? other platforms have it and its nice when you have a 2 or 3 qb league

Please Please Please can you make the setting for QB to be a team QB setting? I have a 10 team league and we start 2 QB's. That makes waiver wire for QB's extremely difficult. I tell my teams in my league to only roster 3 QB's because that way it is equal to all. But when injuries happen this becomes a mess. If we have team QB that problem goes away. So please please please add this setting for next year. You could also add team kicker too. Your competitor ESPN has this setting but I prefer using Yahoo.

By adding the option for using team quarter backs instead of just the player

This idea is a winner, but use it for running back, wide receiver, tight end, and kicker as well as quarterback. I've had a running back or wide receiver get injured and out of the game early and it totally blows up my chance to win for that week. This eliminates that problem because for instance any running back that enters the game that week for that team scores points for you. Secondly it eliminates the problem with the running back by committee. Many running backs do not get picked for a fantasy team because they are part of a running back by committee. This eliminates that problem because you would be selecting all the running backs on a team instead of an individual player. Thirdly many players never factor into a fantasy team because they rarely, if ever, get selected as individual players. This again eliminates that problem because any wide receiver, for instance, that catches the ball scores points for you. Your lineup for each week would look something like this:
San Francisco 49ers Quarterbacks
Pittsburgh Steelers Running Backs
Miami Dolphins Wide Receivers
Minnesota Vikings Wide Receivers
Dallas Cowboys Tight Ends
Denver Bronco Kickers
Baltimore Ravens DefenseAgain, this eliminates the problem of injured players and by committee lineups and gets all the skill players on a team involved in the scoring. Highly urge Yahoo to make this an option along with the regular head to head and points scoring options.

So, instead of having Josh Allen on my fantasy team I would have Buffalo QB. That would allow points to continue to accumulate regardless if it is the starter or the back up in the game.

Allow kickers and quarterbacks to be selected like def/sp teams (aka by team not by player)

We tried Yahoo for the first time last year but our league is voting soon on changing to a league that has the option for team QB's. At least you till still have a QB in the lineup when the starter goes out at any point during the game. On average, that 1 position/player has the most points every week in our league. You almost always lose when he goes down early in the game using individuals.

I'd like to see this as an option in Yahoo. You may gain some users who play in ESPN solely for their TQB (as well as Punter and Head Coach) position options. I like to do both individual QB for the risk/reward and TQB just to have a unique setting to convince managers to play in multiple leagues.
As a compromise, would this be possible? ... Allow us roster positions of "Starters" and "Backups" and, prior to kickoff, Yahoo designates quarterbacks as "SQB" or "BQB" and then managers can have fun deciding whether they want both QBs from the same NFL team to play it safe or go with the most likely backup to see action ... perhaps the backup to your weekly opponent's starter so that, if they are benched or injured, it's a win/win. -

Designate on bench your back up Player QB/RB/WR. If a player is knocked out of a game, you can replace that player with a back up player and continue to score points.

I also have one question and I’m wondering why yahoo hasn’t done this yet. CBS has their site set up so that for whatever QB you start on a team so that if your QB let’s say for example gets injured in the first quarter then whoever the backup for that team is comes in and you get the backup's points for the remind of the game so that you’re not completely screwed.
So for example if you drafted Dak Prescott it calls your QB the Dallas Cowboys QB in your starting lineup. If he gets hurt at any point in the game the backup comes in automatically for your for Dallas.
This is a great feature that any fantasy player would love. So many people lose games and get screwed because the QB gets hurt during the game. Will yahoo implement this feature like CBS?

Please consider this option:
... where a manager receives stats for all QBs who play for an NFL team.
Example: If you have Kyler Murray, the Cardinals QBs and he gets hurt in the first quarter, you'll get all the points put up by his replacement(s) like Colt McCoy for the remainder of the game.
You won't have to have both Murray and McCoy on your roster. Just having one QB from a team will activate the team points.

In the player stats, add receptions, receiving yards and receiving TDs to the RBs and add rushing yards and rushing TDs to the QBs, WRs and TEs.

I have a better solution. Each team selects one Alternate from their bench every week. If a QB, RB or WR is ruled OUT in the 1st quarter of their game, the alternate is subbed in. The alternate must be from a flex position (RB, WR, TE).
The player must be ruled OUT (not questionable, but does not return), and it must occur in the 1st quarter. Think carted off, street clothes on the sideline, etc. Each manager could select the alternate every week, or if they don't make a selection, Yahoo would auto-select based on the highest projected point total of any one player on the bench.
