If you provided comments via this topic before about Yahoo switching back to the Classic email format, then congratulations! I think they may have heard us. But if you are thrilled that Classic email has returned, you should also be equally concerned about its future. Please consider also voicing THAT concern here and/or at this new topic:

While we are all happy to again have (permanent?; temporary?) access to the Classic format of Yahoo email, let’s not trip over ourselves applauding Yahoo over their move to “switch back to Classic”, nor totally forget-and-forgive their still-existing failings related to transparency, communication, and decision making.
We were all surprised and PO’d when our Classic format went away a few weeks ago – without prior notice or explanation from Yahoo. No “heads-up” email notice of “changes are coming”, no banner or pop-up warning with a link to explain what they were about to do. Further, there was not even an after-the-fact notice for what they had done! Their only communication or acknowledgement of the change that I recall is the “you are SOL” comment that was displayed at the top of the Yahoo Mail feedback page (https://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/962180-new-yahoo-mail):
*Those asking about going back to the old version. Unfortunately, if you do not see the "Go Back" button you cannot go back. We really hope you'll try the new experience! Thanks!
Then we apparently complained enough for them to switch it back. So we are happy. For now. For how long? Just as they were demonstratively poor in transparency, communication and decision making to switch us away from Classic, they have demonstrated those same failings in switching us back. Suddenly, the option to switch back reappeared within the Settings window. There was no “hey, we heard you” email announcement – much less one with instructions how to switch back. (Scroll down through this blog; there are still new entries from people – apparently unaware - complaining about not being able to switch back to Classic.) Is the change permanent, or just until they “fix” a few things and force another unannounced change upon us?
Accordingly, I am very suspect. It wouldn’t take much effort from Yahoo Mail to win back much of my trust. But as long as their only reference to the recent debacle remains the now-outdated “you are SOL” message noted above (yes, it is still there), I’m not holding my breath for them. As a longtime Yahoo Mail user who just successfully searched and found an email from 1999, the reality is very disappointing.

To yahoo!email:
I tried your "new experience”, as well as the approx. 5K+ other users who have commented here. We don’t like it and would like (at least the option of) reverting to the old/classic format. As of 3/17/2025, the 2nd-rank issue had only 1/20th the number of comments as this 1st-ranked issue. Seems like an excellent priority-of-work feedback mechanism. BTW – Possibly omitting the design option that allows YOU to allow ME to go back the old/classic would be less believable than the idea that you thought you could make such a change and not anticipate such an avalanche of negative feedback.scott lindner supported this idea ·

3/17/2035: No matter how long the New and/or Basic mail format used to have a "go back" button (to old/classic), it is deplorable that now you have no warning that you if you click Basic or New you can no longer "go back".
The New format is terrible, and Yahoo administration is terrible to force a one-way switch from a classic format that I'm sure kept most @yahoo.com users happy or at least content. -

Looking at the URL of your email in your browser, if it starts with:
https://mail.yahoo.com/n/, you are in the New format,
https://mail.yahoo.com/b/, you are in Basic Email,
https://mail.yahoo.com/d/, you are in the old/Classic format
I've never used Email Plus, so I don't know what that looks like.
If you are still stuck in the New email format, have you tried the steps below to return to old/Classic format? (I am referencing some screenshots from when I was forced to use the New format from before I switched back, so it may not match what you have if they are still changing the New format.)
A) On the far left, directly under the "yahoo!mail" logo, there are 5 icons oriented in a vertical column with Inbox on the top and Folders on the bottom. Click on the three dots under Folders.
B) This should bring up a Settings list with Appearance, Mailboxes, and about 8 other topics in one upper list, then there is a small gap, and underneath that is a lower list including things like About Yahoo Mail, Give Feedback, Help. Somewhere in that lower list should be something similar to “Switch to Old (or Classic or original) Email”. Click that.
There may also be a Switch to Basic. Don't click that.
