I've been lobbying for this for over a decade, as well as more clearly defining IDPs such as linebackers (middle, weak and strong) -- and safeties (strong and free).

I strongly agree. I have long ago lobbied for larger rosters, supplemental squads, and more defined player positions -- WILL (weakside LB), Mike (middle LB), Sam (strongside LB), SS (strong safety), FS (free safety) -- as our leagues use every available position.

My two leagues are at dynasty level. What we have been seeking for the past few years is an expanded roster AND a Developmental Squad of perhaps 5-8 players. The expanded roster makes for true NFL depth.
The Developmental Squad would allow managers to hold on to rookies or other fringe/2nd-tier players -- QBs,for instance -- to be slowly "groomed" over a two-year period while awaiting their "break-out". At the end of the 2-year period, the player will need to be added to the regular roster or waived.

It has been at least a decade since our league has suggested Supplemental Squads and more defined roster positions -- WILL (weakside LB), Mike (middle LB), Sam (strongside LB), SS (strong safety), FS (free safety).
I just noticed a comment on a different site (Reddit) that suggests some fantasy platforms do have supplemental squads. We've always chosen Yahoo because of it's user-friendly platform, but perhaps you're no longer the 'king of the hill' in fantasy.
I'd like to get a legitimate response relative to these suggestions that I may determine whether my leagues should remain in Yahoo. My league IDs are: #3422 and #3427.

Rosters should be expanded to a minimum of 48 players and a section of the team page should be created for a developmental squad.
