Yahoo seems to be getting out of the fantasy business, or at least having that effect. Does anyone know how Fantrax works for football? Seems to do well for all my former Yahoo fantasy baseball teams.

To everyone who thinks it's too late to move to Fantrax or elsewhere, it's definitely not. It's worth the effort. Ending the message boards was a blessing, getting serious fantasy baseball players and leagues off of this platform for good. It was inevitable.

This is actually a positive move, in that it gets people like me, and leagues that I've been in, to overcome inertia and move to Fantrax. Yahoo has gotten away with running a substandard format for a long time, and this just helps move any stragglers along to something better.

Just a few useful links for folks looking to get out of Yahoo Fantasy Baseball

I am thinking it's not going to be a good thing to be whoever is running Yahoo Fantasy Baseball, if they have a supervisor, in an era of rampant tech industry layoffs, once said supervisor looks at the numbers later this year. Then again, I'm often unsure whether anyone is really paying attention. And maybe the whole thing was a big money loser anyway. I will admit, I spent a fair amount of time playing whackamole with Yahoo pop up ads and never bought a thing from them.

Besides moving leagues to Fantrax, I would recommend Fleaflicker based on limited experience. That said, in trying to set up a league there personally, I did get stuck on trying to establish rosters -- so it's not perfect. However, some others have definitely set up some interesting leagues, and several are seeking owners. You can find them at this link once you're signed up.

Fwiw, while most leagues I know of are moving to Fantrax, I find Fleaflicker a lot easier to navigate so far. Trying to sort/analyze available players in Fantrax leagues is kind of a joke, and the site is prone to freezing and crashing.

RocknRef, Fantrax does have public leagues you can join actually. You just need to find them. They're listed on the site. There are several. I've joined a couple myself this year.

@Will Dickerson -- most people are moving over to Fantrax. Fleaflicker looks promising, but I haven't tried it. ESPN looks hopelessly simplistic for my needs (fine on football, I think, but like Yahoo they couldn't care less about baseball it seems). CBSSports seems like a good platform, but I haven't used it, and it costs money to have a league with any complexity at all.

If they wanted to replace the message boards with chat that had threads, etc., then why would you shut down the boards before rolling out the improved chat function? Probably because they can't. If they wanted to build chat so that it worked something like Slack, accessible equally between web browsers and the app (though why anyone would allow that on their phone, I can't tell you), then fine. But as it is, they have shown no ability to do that, and it's doubtful they ever will. Because they're Yahoo.

I am a little concerned about the ability of Fantrax to handle the influx of business from Yahoo. My one draft there last year was a little clunky with a lot of outages. Hoping they've geared up with needed server capacity.

I'm going to give fleaflicker a try too, in addition to Fantrax, though I never heard about it until this message board. Hoping Yahoo keeps this "feedback" section open so we can swap notes about moving leagues. I may post some new league invites here too.

I think you may be able to post invite links to your Fantrax or other leagues in Commissioners Notes to help move people over if you're a commissioner. Or use the email function, of course. That's about the best you can hope for on your way out.

Folks, it's past time to migrate your leagues to Fantrax or CBS. The latter really only functions for pay beyond the most basic leagues. Fantrax gives you more before you hit the paid level. I'll figure it out, but I'm done with Yahoo Fantasy Baseball, and probaby Yahoo Fantasy overall. This is just one more way of them saying they want to get out of Fantasy Baseball without getting out of Fantasy Baseball. Probably not enough gambling revenue in it.

After spending more time than it was worth looking, I've yet to see where you can currently access chat on Yahoo Fantasy Baseball on a browser. It may exist on the mobile app, but my experience is that your apps are basically spammy malware, so they only get to stay on my phone a short time when I have to make a transaction on the go. Anyway, you might also want to disable league email, since that's what people are mostly using to move their leagues to other platforms. Just when I thought Yahoo couldn't get worse at fantasy baseball, you proved me wrong.

There are at least two private dynasty leagues I'm in that will have to go away without message boards. One already has moved to Fantrax. Not sure where the other will go. While I'm not a fan of Fantrax, this may be the last straw for me in Yahoo Fantasy. Bye.

Sleeper looks good, but seems to only be supported on mobile, and I don't want that. Probably ESPN is best place to go for football.
