Before: I could see at a glance whether an account had new mail.
Now: I have to click the account button in the bottom-left corner to check whether I have new mail!
Before: I could see only the email subjects, which was great Pretty Good Privacy!,
Now: A serious privacy concern! I can see the beginning of each email message without even opening it.
Before: There were no Primary, Offers, Social or Newsletter categories. Just a simple, efficient inbox list.
Now: Buttons everywhere! If I select “Primary” instead of “All,” I could miss important mails, just as I might miss emails sent to Spam. This is highly misleading!
Before: The Primary, Offers, Social and Newsletter categories were not displayed. The interface was much cleaner.
Now: They are all there, with no option to remove them, making the interface cluttered!
Before: The star icon was on the left of each email, where it was easy to see and intuitive to use. After all, people generally read from left to right.
Now: The star is on the right?!?! It is harder to spot, crammed in with other icons. Messy and poorly designed!
Before: Two contrasting colours made it easier to focus: a dark background surrounding a light-coloured email list.
Now: Everything is white, making the interface look cluttered and harder to navigate.
My question is simple: Why replace a clear, neat, intuitive and efficient email system with one that is cluttered, inefficient, confusing and far less intuitive?
I simply don't understand this decision. At the very least, users should have the option to switch back to the old version!
Thank you for your time.
