Att; Katie Couric,
There are between 1 and 1 1/2 million US citizens that have moved from the US to Mexico and live here on a permanent basis. Most if them live on income they receive from the States either in the form of retirement plan or funds or Social Security. They live here primarily because the cost of living is much lower than US.
Considering the proposals Trump has made to "shut down remittances" sent by Mexicans or Mexican Americans working in the US to their families in Mex. considering his bullying US companies to bring back their plants from Mexico to US or keep them from investing there, I can't help but believe that Trump Team is not working on a way to force US expats living in Mexico to move back to the states. Trump cannot like the idea of millions, if not billions, of dollars being taken out of US and being spent in Mexico.
I am 74 years old and have lived here in Mx. for 20 years. I am a retired atty/real estate broker who was self employed most of my life, do not have a retirement fund and depend entirely on Social Security for living expenses. I can live comfortably (without much luxuries) on that money but could not live on that in the US.
Every day I expect to hear of the bomb shell I expect him to drop at any time. Either by some means cutting off the availability of those funds or reducing them by a substantial tax on those funds much like he threatened US companies with a 38% import tax on goods shipped across the border.
You might want to start doing some research on this issue because I believe some effort will be made to force US expats to move back to the states. .
