Yahoo! Performance is so bad, it's time to abandon Yahoo! completely
I run a variety of Windows 7 based Intel Core i7 quad core machines with between 8 and 16 GB of RAM and multi-Gig GPUs. Over the past six months, I have noticed the embedded content of Yahoo! pages pushing advertiser video content to multiple streaming sources, dead links, and a variety of other non-sense that my browser (IE, Chrome, and Firefox... it makes no difference) stalls and crawls. My free cache drops like a rock, my CPU performance across all cores climbs above 75% where some peg at 100%, get large page swapping and everything comes to screeching halt.
I find this on News, Yahoo! Home, Finance, and Sports. With a completely dumped cache, nothing changes and actually gets worse while the embedded links try to find bad and poorly written content. I run comparisons on simple Google Home page seaches, news from aggregators like Flipboard, and financials from a variety of "Wall Street" favorite sources. My standard machines never blink, don't break a sweat, and rarely tax any resource including when running multiple frame applications with video content.
The bottom line is this.... Yahoo! is seriously broken. Verizon paid too much and as a shareholder, I am saddened by this choice. It reminds me of when I owned HP and Carley Fiorina convinced the board that buying Compaq was a good idea. Either Yahoo! needs to address this or Yahoo! will simply be as significant as AOL.
Thanks for listening Community. Until then, my Yahoo! use will be limited to quick hits and then closed pages.
