Vet shut out of stimulus
I served 33 years with the Navy and then joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers working 4 years in Iraq including 120 missions in the red zone. When I left Iraq I needed a quiet beach, retired to Thailand and married a beautiful local lady. Both my 7-year-old son and I qualify for a stimulus check but because I file jointly with my Thai wife who is not a U.S. citizen, IRS says none of us are eligible for the stimulus program. An expat in my situation who files separately would qualify. Does this seem fair or reasonable?
