MILITARY FENTANYL OVERDOSE
At least or over 300 fatal overdoses have been in the military between 2017-2021. The vast majority of those deaths were categorized as accidental. The 5 yr period saw 15k non-fatal ods amongst the active duty force. The information in this article started in Rolling Stone Magazine about Ft Braggs startling string of ods. The pentagon acknowledges that Ft Bragg is the hot spot for ods with the military. 34 soldiers died at the base between 2017-2021, it also saw a 100% increase in drug crime over 2021. Those drug deaths account 4 more than 10% of the total fatalities reported by the military. Among pentagons, findings were that Fentanyl OD deaths have doubled. Over half of all the deaths occurred within the Army alone. It should be called Fentanyl Poisoning instead of overdosing. The pentagons under secretary 4 personnel + readiness said we share your concern that drug overdose is a very serious problem + must be addressed. She (Gil Cisneros) stated were just trying 2 get the word out as the effects 2 warn troops of the dangers of Fentanyl. All I care about is that the Army helps the soldiers that R there now. This is a National Security Threat/Issue. I don't give a sh## about anything else. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death 4 Americans ages 18-49 + even outpacing suicides. The military ever seldom acknowledges deaths due to ods. The Pentagon's efforts that R within the military R very meager. There is No Requirement 4 personnel 2 be informed of Fentanyl: pervasiveness leaving most young troops in the dark, drug testing may be common, but, it's 2 late for an OD. In the Military, you're told not 2 use illicit drugs, but people still do. The military needs fentanyl test strips + Naloxone to help counteract overdoses. The military has a Major Epidemic that's not fully acknowledged. Fentanyl has long been used as an important pain management drug for cancer patients with chronic pain. A person getting their regular supply of drugs or a weekend warrior isn't looking 2 OD on Fentanyl, that's why the current crisis is particularly dangerous. A lot of people want Immediate change but change like that in an institution like the Army takes a lot of things going on there are far deeper than just some young kid who wanted 2 get a pill. There R a lot of Gold Star Parents who don't just want 2 see the DOD collect data on od's, they want 2 see All the Services take the Risk of Fentanyl more seriously + better inform troops of its pervasiveness on American Streets. Honestly, it needs 2 be talked about more ASAP, you can't fix a problem if you're in denial about its existence. The Army just needs 2 stand up + acknowledge + take responsibility that the fact is Fentanyl is a Problem. All of the above came from Rolling Stone Magazine, Navy Times + Pentagon. Thank you for your time + please if all possible share this with others so the word gets out to all.
