Stop autoplaying videos on the Yahoo News home page
I see a lot of complaints about videos autoplaying when news articles are opened. That's annoying because it is unnessarily chewing up bandwidth. Recently when I first go to the Yahoo news home page, a video autoplays on the upper right side of the screen. I find this extremely annoying. I've used Yahoo News as my primary online news source for at least 12 years and now I think I need to look at less intrusive alternatives.

STOP with the auto play videos. They are annoying at best, and a product killer at worst. You're driving people away from your platform.

Please stop playing music when a news article opens up. It's distracting, so I just close the article and go to Google. I prefer the look of Yahoo, but can't tolerate the onslaught of audio.

Sometimes there are 3 audios streaming simultaneously when I open a page. Autoplaying ads has the undesired effect of multiple ads all playing on opening a page. On some of the pages, the ads have the stop button disable, so theres like 60 of garbled sound

Best Buy/Intel and Sonic are running simultaneously. So annoying. No longer using Yahoo for my news.

Use a browser plugin like "Adblock Plus" (do not confuse with similarly named plugins) to stop annoying ads. Use Chrome or Firefox, which have a mute button on every tab. In the event of an unexpected video or audio ad, you can mute it on the tab without having to hunt for it in the page.

HA! I'm now opening news stories only to have MULTIPLE videos play simultaneously. Get it together, Yahoo! Separate and CLEARLY LABEL video and printed content, and PLEASE immediately terminate simultaneous video playback. I promise you, NO ONE finds this helpful.

To YAHOO NEWS READERS/ products group.. If you read your comments for the first 5 things you can do something about this TODAY....
DO NOT FORGET THAT we choose to land on your page... Flashing us with any sales Advertisements makes you look like you have lost site of customers.
See google... reflect a bit... see Bing... reflect a bit.... NOTHING ADVERITIZING on landing yahoo page. Also PLEASE BRING BACK Comics. Why would you get rid of those? Maybe even add a comics section. We don't need any more of the left leaning liberal ***** shoved down our throats.

Just attempted (with a currently registering 29.65Mbps download speed,) to read a dozen headline stories, all of which turned out to be videos and none of which would play. I'm sick of video ads and video stories - just give us the fricking news. Please separate and CLEARLY label video stories so I won't have to bother clicking on them.

I have been trying to read articles on Yahoo! news today and multiple video ads are playing at the same time. The mute function on the tab doesn't work - I have to scroll up and down just to find the f'ing ad to pause (if it lets me). I am moving to AOL until this is resolved.

their are numerous yahoo pages with auto play videos and autoplay ads!! If you work for yahoo and don't see these annoying expensive megabyte eating ads, then you really don't even look at yahoo do you???

It also often slows your browser and ruins the page. Many of the "sponsored" articles contain damaging viruses. I wonder if Yahoo is liable for the damage.

It's not just that. I read the news because it's quiet. Automating videos are disruptive and annoying! If I wanted video, I would go to news with video!

Came here to try and comment about autoplaying videos when clicking on articles on the mobile version. I've woken up my wife in the middle of the night three times now when I am reading the news in the middle of the night... all because I was reading an article that auto-played a video. The sound even plays on these videos with my phone on silent mode.

All ads all stories. This should narrow it down some.

It's not just the advertisements, but EVERY video in EVERY Yahoo News Story that auto plays. And with their new homepage where you see multiple truncated news stories, multiple videos auto play at once. And you scroll down to find/stop the culprit.
