    Use a browser plugin like "Adblock Plus" (do not confuse with similarly named plugins) to stop annoying ads. Use Chrome or Firefox, which have a mute button on every tab. In the event of an unexpected video or audio ad, you can mute it on the tab without having to hunt for it in the page.
